Oxford Entrepreneurs Appoints BOTTLE

Oxford Entrepreneurs appoints BOTTLE to raise profile and increase exposure of the world’s largest student entrepreneurship society.

Oxford Entrepreneurs, the world’s largest student entrepreneurship society, has appointed BOTTLE, to raise its profile and increase awareness by securing media coverage across national and international media platforms, through digital PR and direct to public activity.

Launched on 6 February 2002, and now the largest society for student entrepreneurs in the world. Oxford Entrepreneurs provides inspiration, education and networking opportunities to students, empowering them with the skills they need to succeed in business and start entrepreneurial ventures.

Marketing Manager, Bridget Taylor, who is working with Oxford Entrepreneurs for BOTTLE, says: “We’re delighted to be supporting Oxford Entrepreneurs, not only is it the largest society of its kind in the world, but to be working with such inspirational young entrepreneurs is fantastic. The society has had some great speakers at its Change Maker Speaker Series, which I have been lucky enough to attend and they are the name behind so many successful small businesses.”

Recent events organised by Oxford Entrepreneurs have featured guest speakers such as Richard Reed, founder of Innocent, and Daniel Ek, founder of Spotify. Various entrepreneurial initiatives are also run by the society including; the brand new 2009 Oxprentice challenge, which is well under way; with an iPhone application in the pipeline and two competing flavours of ice-cream being sold in G&D stores currently.
Oxford Entrepreneurs has aided numerous companies through their Ideas2Market workshops, six have received angel funding and one recently sold for over $5 million.

One example of a successful business born from Oxford Entrepreneurs is Plink. Plink is a Smart Phone application that allows people to take a picture of something with their mobile phone and the technology recognises the item in the picture and sends back more information. Such as; taking a picture of a painting in a museum would result in you receiving the Wikipedia article about that painting. Or take a picture of a DVD and Plink will find the trailer. Plink has recently has won the $100,000 top prize in Google's Android Developer Contest against thousands of applicants from around the world.

When asked why Oxford Entrepreneurs decided to appoint a PR agency, Melissa Massey, Oxford Entrepreneurs PR Director, said: “We’d heard of the BOTTLE PR consultants’ huge successes with other organisations, and decided to utilise their impressive media contacts to help raise our profile in the national and international media. We’ve done really well up to now – both in generating our own publicity and supporting our members, many of whom win awards and go on to become really successful entrepreneurs - but we need to take that extra step.“

“BOTTLE has well established relationships with journalists with Oxford Entrepreneurs’ target media. Across traditional print, online and broadcast platforms, so we’re really excited to be able to use our knowledge and experience to develop and increase the society’s exposure and continued growth.” comments Taylor.
