BreastHealth UK Appoints BOTTLE to Launch Breast Cancer Screening Services

BOTTLE to give all staff annual breast screening as part of its benefits package.

BOTTLE has been appointed by BreastHealth UK to undertake a number of projects to generate greater awareness of its private breast screening services on a nationwide brief.

The agency was appointed following a competitive pitch and is tasked with delivering a PR programme that will include the UK launch of the service to national consumer press, new clinic openings as well as numerous proactive campaigns to raise awareness of breast health in women under 50. BOTTLE will also be responsible for driving a B2B campaign to support BreastHealth UK’s corporate services offer which is aimed at large corporates.

Amanda Politzer, Senior PR Consultant at BOTTLE, says: “Breast cancer is very high on the news agenda at the moment, and it is the most commonly diagnosed cancer for women under 35. As Martina Navratilova, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, said in a press interview: ‘like the cancer knows you aren't 50 and waits...’”.

“BreastHealth UK is the only comprehensive service available in the UK for women who fall outside of the NHS Breast Screening programme for 50-70 year olds. This service offers peace of mind for women who are concerned about their breast health. We are looking forward to educating more women with regard to breast health and the options available to them.”

Troels Jordansen, Managing Director of BreastHealth UK says of the appointment: “Now we have a solid national network of clinics which we operate from, it’s time to ramp up our marketing activity. We gelled with BOTTLE straight away and they demonstrated a solid background in consumer and business to business PR together with relevant experience in the healthcare sector.

“Early detection of breast cancer can save lives. In Sweden routine breast screening starts at 40 and was introduced ten years before the UK programme*. It has been shown to almost halve the number of women who might otherwise die from the disease and offers a good case for offering screening to younger women if they have a higher personal risk, perhaps due to family history.”

BOTTLE has also signed up as one of BreastHealth UK’s first corporate services customers so that all its employees and their partners will receive this as an additional employee benefit.

Claire Cairns, Managing Director says: “This seems a very fitting benefit to offer our staff, given that the vast majority are female. Our male employees are allowed to invite their female partners to participate too so everyone is included. The feedback from the team has been so positive, some have a family history of breast cancer and others are just keen to know what their level of risk is. The service will also teach us how to check our breasts properly and on a regular basis and each member of staff will get a tailor-made breast health plan."
