Voiceover artist shouts for BOTTLE PR

One of the UK’s best-known voiceover artists, Emma Clarke, has appointed BOTTLE PR to act as press office.

You can hear Emma talking about the appointment here.

Emma, most famously known for being the ‘voice’ of London Underground, has decided to work with the agency following a huge increase in media attention since November 2007. A media storm erupted when Emma recorded a few light-hearted, spoof tube announcements, was mis-quoted as saying she hated the tube and follow up reports suggested she had been sacked by London Underground as a result. The story went global, her website crashed due to the volume of people trying to listen to the announcements and suddenly everyone wanted to interview her.

Carole Scott, Senior PR Consultant at BOTTLE PR, says: “Emma is still being inundated with media requests linking her to the ‘tube’ story. Our first job is to sift those to make sure Emma doesn’t get pigeon-holed by a story which is now past its sell by date. We’ll then work with her to identify media opportunities that will highlight the issues she wants to campaign on, such as plain English and the need for internet royalties for voiceover artists, as well as promoting new – and very different – projects that she has lined up for 2008.”

Emma says: “It’s a relief to find an agency I can trust to give me straight advice. I’m looking forward to talking about something else other than my attitudes towards London Underground, particularly as my work for them probably only ever totalled about three hours and was hugely enjoyable! I’m about to embark on a new project which will either focus on sex or marriage, or possibly both! Whichever it is, I’m sure BOTTLE will do a good job of lining up the right media opportunities.”

All requests for interviews should be directed to Carole Scott at BOTTLE PR on 01865 882988. Carole warns that the sifting process will be strenuous so advises PR Week not to test it with a spoof media request. Emma’s blog can be found on her website.
