CASE STUDY:  CHRISTCHURCH HARBOUR HOTELS/
GARY RHODES

BOTTLE PR was appointed by Gary Rhodes in 2008 to manage the promotional PR for two new establishments situated among a number of Local Nature Reserves (LNR) and a Site of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI) on the Dorset coast and near to the New Forest National Park.

Rhodes South is the latest fine-dining offering from Gary Rhodes, located on the edge of Mudeford Quay. Rhodes South is an environmentally-friendly waterside restaurant offering not only unsurpassed views and service, but the highest standards of cuisine. The Kings Rhodes brasserie, based at the nearby Kings Hotel, offers a relaxed dining experience where guests can select from tapas style sharing plates to start, appetising mains and exquisite desserts.

Pre-launch, BOTTLE PR built a database to cover the ‘great & good’ of the area, celebrities, local and national media and other target audiences including local business people, families and couples. BOTTLE PR also organised the very successful launch event attended by 30+ media correspondents from the likes of: GMTV, ITV Meridian, Daily Mirror, Flavour Magazine and More!

As part of the subsequent 12-month PR campaign to drive bookings, BOTTLE PR has already secured the following coverage: Daily Express, Times Online, Dorset Life, Grand Designs, Dorset Society, FHM, Sunday Times and Restaurant.

Both restaurants are currently running a waiting list for bookings.

CASE STUDY:  NORTHAMPTONSHIRE ENTERPRISE LIMITED (NEL)

BOTTLE PR has recently been appointed by NEL to develop and deliver campaign-led and brand awareness Place Marketing PR activity targeting both consumers and businesses within and outside of Northamptonshire.

The aim of this project is to promote Northamptonshire as one of the UK’s most thriving counties for both tourism and business. Northamptonshire needs to stand out and ‘punch above its weight’ in the national media, and BOTTLE PR has developed a strategy that is utilising the county’s long and vibrant history, its blend of the ancient and the modern, its heritage and its environment to illustrate that it matches anywhere in England.

The appeal for tourists needs to have the county as the backdrop and setting, but also identify more specific points of interest which match the passions of each visitor. This in turn dictates the individual sections of the media, where tailored communication can make a huge difference to their interest in the County. To this end, BOTTLE PR is leading a partnership between NEL and specific points of interest in the region such as Althorp House, the final resting place of Diana, Princess of Wales.

CASE STUDY: BLENHEIM PALACE
Blenheim Palace, a World Heritage Site and ‘Britain’s Greatest Palace’, has its own in-house press office that deals with regular media enquiries from the national and regional travel journalists. However, BOTTLE PR was contracted to identify stories and hooks for two specific projects in 2008.

The first of these was ‘The Untold Story’ exhibition, launched in May 2008 with significant coverage, but needing an additional boost as research revealed that visitors did not have high awareness of the exhibition. The key challenge when we were appointed was that the national media had already covered the exhibition extensively at launch, so we needed to find new hooks a year on.

Our strategy was to create a mini campaign to find Britain's greatest untold story. Teaser 'scrolls' were sent to the national and regional media, telling an untold story from the Palace. The search for an untold story was launched through history groups and the media. A BBC Radio Oxford presenter told her untold story on air, joined with stories from the palace. Visitors to the Palace were encouraged to write down their own Untold Story at the end of the exhibition, with stories collected ranging from ghost stories to family history. The contact with the media refreshed their knowledge of the exhibition, with the aim of encouraging them to visit again.

The second project was focused on ‘Domestic Service in the Victorian Era’, a family tour to give children an insight into life as a Victorian servant. This was a summer programme, which needed attention to attract visitors during the summer holidays. Our aim was to devise a new story to secure picture stories or news pieces in the media. We discovered that a Victorian boot had been found in an oak tree in the Palace grounds and contacted the family involved to secure their co-operation to create a picture story. A photo call was held and the picture story issued to media.
