Surrey County Council teaches a wide range of courses during Adult Learners Week
Surrey County Council Adult and Community Learning have a wide range of courses taking place during Adult Learners Week, from 19 to 25 May.
Surrey’s Adult Learning Centres are based in eight locations across the county and currently provide over 1,000 different courses ranging from pottery to photography and Japanese to Jive. All of the courses have an emphasis on improving well-being, helping individuals and families nurture and develop their abilities, expand their cultural horizons and stimulate their creativity.
Paul Hoffman, Adult Learning Manager at Surrey County Council, says “Adult Learners Week is a great opportunity to show people in Surrey what great courses the Adult and Community Learning Centres offer.”
“Taking a course in a group is fun because it’s interactive and dynamic. These courses enable people to pursue a leisure interest, meet others and gain new knowledge and skills.”
With courses available in the day, evenings and on Saturdays, people from all walks of life can have the chance to try their hand at something new. With an emphasis on improving well-being, the courses help individuals and families develop their abilities, provide cultural experiences and stimulate their minds and creativity.

With an emphasis on promoting well-being, the courses help individuals and families develop their abilities, provide cultural experiences and stimulate minds and creativity.
Surrey County Council Adult and Community Learning courses are taught by professionally qualified tutors, who each have a qualification in the subject they teach as well as a qualification in teaching adults. Courses are available during the day, in the evening and on Saturdays to appeal to people with different lifestyles. The courses are taught in groups, giving people a chance to meet others, make new friends and learn from each other.
Course fees are kept extremely affordable. They range from between £25-£35 for a one day course, to £75-£125 for a full term.
